March Faith Formation: The Cross & the Olive Tree
3/8/26, 5:15 PM
PHCC and Zoom
Are you curious about what liberation for the people of Palestine and Israel might mean through a Christian lens? Are you looking for some context about what the heck is happening there and theological grounding for how to pray and act? Well, good news! During the Faith Formation hour March 1, 8, and 15, we will be engaging with these topics as a part of our Lenten journey.
Rev. Candace Woods (she/her) from Juniper Formation will be facilitating our times together.
Pastor Candace's undergraduate work was focused on the history/political science of the Middle
East and she has a long history of engagement with activism toward liberation and justice. We
will also be engaging with the newly released book on Palestinian Christian liberation theology,
"The Cross and the Olive Tree," whose editors we are delighted to host via Zoom on March 15
for discussion. Here is the how our 3-week series will go:
-- March 1 - a short introduction into the history of the land of Palestine and the context of
liberation theology
-- March 8 - a discussion on "The Cross and the Olive Tree"
-- March 15 - conversation and Q&A with John Munayer and Samuel Munayer, the
brother-editors of this work.
